Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Canon EF

About this item

The Ultimate Portrait Weapon: Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art The Sigma 85mm f/1.4 Art is designed for one thing: optical perfection. In the world of professional portraiture, the 85mm focal length is a standard for its flattering compression and natural perspective. Sigma has elevated this classic focal length by integrating two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements and one anomalous partial dispersion/high-refractive index element into the design. This complex optical arrangement virtually eliminates chromatic aberration, ensuring that your high-contrast shots—like a bride in a white dress or a product with metallic textures—remain crisp and color-accurate. Master the Depth of Field The hallmark of this lens is its ability to isolate a subject from the background with surgical precision. At f/1.4, the depth of field is incredibly shallow, allowing you to draw the viewer’s eye exactly where you want it. The 9 rounded diaphragm blades contribute to a soft, natural bokeh that makes points of light appear as perfect circles, adding a cinematic quality to your b-roll and still images. Whether you are filming beauty content or shooting editorial covers, the visual impact of this lens is unmistakable. Performance Built for Professionals Focusing speed and accuracy are critical when shooting at wide apertures. The Sigma 85mm Art utilizes an updated HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) that offers 1.3x the torque of its predecessor, providing rapid and reliable focus even when tracking moving subjects. The lens also features full-time manual focus override, giving you tactile control at a moment’s notice. While it is a substantial lens weighing in at 2.5 lbs, its weight is a testament to the high-quality glass and durable brass bayonet mount found within its dust- and splash-proof construction. Exceptional Detail and Clarity For creators working with 50MP+ sensors, the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 Art is one of the few lenses capable of resolving that much detail. The large 86mm front element ensures minimal vignetting and maximum light intake, resulting in bright, clear images across the entire frame. Compatible with Sigma’s USB Dock for firmware updates and focus calibration, this lens is a future-proof investment for any Canon EF system user. If your goal is to produce images with “wow factor” and professional-grade clarity, the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 Art is the gold standard.
